From the 1980’s onward, Saint Andre Home gradually expanded its adoption services by cooperating with agencies around the country for international adoptions. In 1979, Saint Andre’s had become a charter member in developing a statewide Coalition on Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting. The following year, the agency was accepted for membership in the National Council for Adoption.
The agency's executive director, Gilbert L. Domingue concluded his service at Saint Andre’s in 1987 and he was succeeded by Dr. Gregory C. Foltz.
Social events became a more regular occurrence. In 1986, Saint Andre Home started hosting annual picnics for adoptive families at Bay View and Christmas parties for adoptive families.
Public awareness grew as Saint Andre’s was featured in the Maine Street Journal, Portland Press Herald, and Church World.
Educational programs and awareness events were in evidence, including a workshop on open adoption at Colby College and a home study and education session for staff and prospective adoptive parents.
