Outreach Counseling

Why should I call St. Andre's Outreach girl looking out windowProgram?

Many women are faced with an unexpected pregnancy or the challenges of parenting without sufficient supports. These women seek services from St. Andre’s Outreach Program because they need someone they can talk to in a confidential and trusting manner and because they need help developing a plan that will best suit the circumstances of their lives.

What services does the Outreach Program provide?

Our services are divided into two categories:

Personal Growth and Resource Management

With personal growth, the Outreach Worker helps mothers explore and address areas in their personal lives that are keeping them from reaching their individual and parenting goals. With resource management, the Outreach Worker helps mothers get connected with community services and learn skills needed to manage resources so that they are able to provide for their and their children’s basic needs.

When are services provided?

Frequency of services depends on each mother’s needs; however, the Outreach Social Worker generally meets with women for one-on-one sessions either weekly or bi-weekly. The Outreach Worker is also available to meet with mothers and their families, significant others or birth fathers of their children and to attend meetings with other providers. These meetings are generally scheduled in place of one-on-one sessions. The Outreach Worker also provides resource management services and general support outside of scheduled sessions.

Where are services provided?

The Outreach Social Worker travels to meet with mothers at their preferred location, whether it is in their home, a temporary place of residence, a public area, or at the Outreach Worker’s office in Biddeford.

A Personal Note

We realize that confiding in someone you don’t know can be extremely difficult, especially when it involves parenting and your children.  Here at St. Andre’s we understand that the many stressors related to parenting can be overwhelming at times. You do not have to face these challenges alone.

If you are pregnant or parenting and would like someone to talk to, please call us today.  We will be available to answer any of your questions and provide you with information on our services and other services available in your community.  If you want, we can schedule a face-to-face meeting anywhere that is comfortable for you.  After we've talked, if you believe you can benefit from our services, then we can begin work right away.  If you find that the services we offer do not meet your needs, we will be happy to help you explore other services that might be a better fit for you and your family.

We will not pressure you to begin services with us when you call. We will not tell you what to do with your child.  We will not pass judgment on you or your parenting.  We will not discuss your situation with others.  Your information will remain confidential and our discussion will remain private. Together we can figure out a plan that best meets your needs and best helps you to achieve your parenting goals.  If you think we might be able to help don’t hesitate to call today.  You can call me directly on my cellular phone at (207) 752-7686 or you can contact our Central Office at (207) 282-3351.  We look forward to talking with you soon!

Sincerely,

Emily Jones, LMSW-CC
